This is an existing film poster. I have chosen to look at this because it shows how an effective picture can be all you need to create the film poster. The font used for the "Superhero Movie" is quite effective, its the type of font I would like to use on my own poster.

progress so far

Over easter, I have taken all the pictures i needed to create the stop frame animation. I filmed on a sunny day to get high key lighting and make the pictures look really clear. I took the pictures outdoors of all the characters. I wanted to show the 2 sides of the geek clearly so that they juxtaposed each other. For this i needed to make the geek, and her alter ego "hero" have 2 distinct and quite stereotypical looks. For the geek, I chose a plain white blouse tucked into some long shorts, black braces over this, long socks and some stereotypical looking geek glasses. I wanted the geek to be recognisable so I also gave the character a big stack of books to carry which were also used as a prop for the story. This contrasted well with the hero outfit which was a superman top tucked into a grey skirt, and once again using the long socks. The removal of the iconic geek symbols (braces and glasses etc) show that its almost like a new character. I didn't end up putting sunglasses on the cool kids as I didn't think it was necessary and the audience are able to see more expressioj from the characters faces too. Now that I have the pictures, I just need to superimpose the images of the hero and "damsel in distress" cool kids onto the pictures of the sky that I took to get the flying shots. I also need to edit in some quirky phrases / catchlines and the thought bubble onto some of the pictures so that it tells the story a bit better, which shouldn't take too long. To create the film poster, I have decided to use one of the shots of the hero flying in the sky, edit it a little more, and add some text. I have done a review page but I have failed to find an existing example from a magazine to compare it to. Therefore, I have no idea if its right or not, or if it looks realistic.
