progress so far

Over the easter holiday, i will be retaking the pictures in daylight with a higher quality camera as the pictures i have aren't good enough. I will try to use a day where the sun is shining to get high key lighting as my pictures are going to be outdoors. Once I have done this, I will be able to create my stop frame animation and my poster. I have decided that the easiest way to create the illusion of flying will be to superimpose two pictures so that i am able to just edit it to make it look like "Super Geek" is flying. This would require me to take some pictures of Super Geek (in costume) next to a plain background so that it will be easier to edit. The pictures I take should come out much better as the last time ended up with me trying to take shots in the dark. I would have used these to create a mini sample and test the software but I had trouble trying to upload them onto the software. I have already created a review page, however I haven't found a real one to compare it to so I don't know what I can change to make it look realistic.

Originally, I had planned to take the pictures for my piece and record some parts yesterday, but two of the actors for the piece had other plans so hopefully I will be able to do this on Monday (their next available day) if the others can make it too...

Costume

Geek - I want the geek to look quite stereotypical so she will be dressed in geek glasses, long socks, braces / suspenders, shirt, bow tie

Cool Kids - To make them all match, I want to try and get them each to wear a pair of sunglasses but they will all be dressed differently to one another and will look more stylish next to the geek

Superhero - I will try to get hold of a cape and maybe print something on to a plain t-shirt as an emblem or logo for the superhero

Story Idea

I am creating a mini movie using "stop frame animation", where i will have people dressed up as the various characters in my story. I will use a combination of photographs and live action to try and make it look more interesting and to create the effect of someone flying. I will try to start taking my photographs over the weekend so I can begin to create my movie as I have already done some research. I have found videos of some examples of stop frame animation where there is live action, but also some 2D ones using cardboard or paper to give me a better idea of what I am trying to achieve. The idea is quite surreal, a superhero type story where a stereotypical "geek" will imagine herself turning into a superhero and saving the "cool kids" / bullies but returns to reality again only to be pushed to the ground once again and dropping a pile of books.

http://http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ImXxudgspQ - This is an example of a stop frame animation using both 3D and 2D components, and although it is very advanced, it shows how I may be able to mix the two elements

http://http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kDDzCfDU94&feature=related -Although this is very short, its an example of stop frame animation using just 2D pieces of cardboard cut outs. For some of my movie I may be using 2D photos so this shows how it can be done

http://http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJzU3NjDikY - This was the first example of a stop frame animation that I found originally. Its a very advanced piece but this is how I got the idea that I wanted someone to fly in my piece (but as a superhero)
